What you’ll need:
- Rope/Twine
- Electrical Tape
- Metal/Wooden Stake
- Weight

To start:
Tie one end of the rope to the stake and then secure the stake into the ground at the corner of the longest side of your pond
To get length & width:
Walk the side of the pond while holding the rope and then use a piece of electrical tape to mark off the distance to the end. Repeat for shorter side.

Walk to the opposite side of your pond while holding the rope and then use a piece of electrical tape to mark the distance.*For oval or irregularly shaped ponds, take measurements from multiple locations and average them together. your pond.
To get average depth:
Tie a weight to the end of your rope and drop it to the bottom and then pull the rope taut before marking the rope. Repeat in at least 3 places and average the results.**For large ponds we recommend taking measurements from a boat.
